Job Title: High-Profile Governess (Private Household)

Salary: N400,000 to N600,000 p/m (Commensurate with Experience)

Role Overview

We are seeking a refined, accomplished, and highly professional High-Profile Governess to deliver outstanding educational guidance, mentorship, and structured development within a private household.

The successful candidate will be polished, discreet, emotionally intelligent, and passionate about nurturing well-rounded, confident, and globally minded children in a high-standard environment.

This role requires a strong academic foundation, excellent etiquette, and the ability to instil discipline, confidence, curiosity, and life skills in line with international best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver structured educational support aligned with international curricula (British and/or American preferred).
• Oversee homework, assignments, and monitor academic progress.
• Design and implement enrichment programmes including literacy, numeracy, languages, arts, culture, and critical thinking.
• Instil excellent manners, etiquette, and social confidence.
• Plan age-appropriate educational activities, outings, and structured daily routines.
• Support character development, leadership skills, and emotional intelligence.
• Liaise with tutors, schools, and extracurricular instructors where required.
• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and discretion.
• Accompany the family on local and international travel when required.

Additional Skills

• Excellent command of written and spoken English.
• Computer literate with ability to use laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
• Proficient in basic Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) or Google Workspace.
• Ability to prepare simple lesson plans, learning materials, and progress reports.
• Comfortable using virtual learning platforms and educational apps.
• Ability to document academic progress, behavioural observations, and daily activities clearly.
• Basic understanding of virtual communication platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
• Strong written communication for professional correspondence with parents and tutors.
• Strong leadership and management skills

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a governess, private educator, or similar role in a private household or high-standard educational setting.
• Strong knowledge of international curricula.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Polished appearance and professional demeanour.
• High level of integrity, discretion, and reliability.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively within a structured household.
• First Aid/CPR certification is an added advantage.
