Job Introduction
Our Client will like to recruit HSE Consultant for their operations in Lagos, Nigeria.
Job Summary
The HSE Consultant will coordinate the Health & Safety network for the Company and its Clients, support the development of Health and Safety mindset addressing 3 major areas: site conditions, procedures, and behaviour. Lead safety and promote best practices. Provide the technical HSE support to the site to ensure the safe delivery of the day, compliance with the organization’s standards, good industry practices and local legislative requirements where applicable. He/she will drive the HSE performance improvement of the plant/facility within his/her area of responsibility. This includes visible personal leadership on HSE matters, setting of standards, regular reviews of performance and implementing improvements where required.
Responsibilities
- Provide planning, coordinating, and implementing of effective HSE policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure that the Client’s objectives are met.
- Develop HSE plans that comply with Company policies and procedures as well as Client requirements
- Review Contractor HSE Documentations and Certifications and ensure compliance of all safety measures when on site
- Develop and implement safety training, tool-box meetings, and emergency drills as part of the Company’s training and HSE program, e.g., emergency response systems, etc
- Ensuring that all contractors provide a comprehensive Job Safety Analysis Form before all projects are commenced
- Ensure that all Contractor Personnel are adequately trained to use equipment provided for the work they do and are trained to perform the work specified.
- Provide a Permit To Work for each contractor’s project
- Ensure all workers and visitors on site always make use of necessary Personal Protective Equipment
- Conduct weekly HSE meetings and inspections.
- Conduct periodic HSE audits to ensure the work sites comply with environmental
- Facilitate and drive safety initiatives.
- All other HSE related responsibilities
Desired Skills and Experience

- Minimum of 10 years HSE experience of which 5 years must be at a senior management level.
- Minimum of 5 years previous safety experience in some of the following areas: safety program development, fire prevention, hazardous materials, qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, process safety management, process hazard analysis, incident investigation and the development and implementation of safe operations procedures and processes.
- Professional membership or registration in reputable Safety bodies.
- NEBOSH Certificate a must
- Knowledge in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OSHA 18001, ISM, ISPS standards and HSE management systems is highly preferred.
- Experience in the construction field with in-depth HSE field work.
- Sound negotiation skills, strong oral and written communication skills.
- Able to work as part of a team as well as being able to be a self-starter.
- Able to work with deadlines and possess a proven track record of delivering required projects in a timely and professional manner.
- Excellent use of MS Office
- Must be willing to travel at short notice as company needs
